DARK CRESCENDO
Dinner was at a restaurant he chose himself. He booked the whole restaurant that evening. Scented candles burnt lighting up the atmosphere. The table cloth was maroon and fresh flowers were at the centre of the table. It looked like something in the romance movies. I know we both glowed.
I remembered when I first met him, the way I disliked him because I felt he was showing off what he had and I think my dislike for him made him like me. He didn't allow anyone attend to him at the counter. No matter the length of the queue in front of me, he'll wait till I attended to him. , Sandra my colleague at work told me he liked me and we would eventually fall in love. I disagreed and she said "you just wait and see"
And here I was at Embers smiling and dining with him. I was a simple girl hanging out with a rich boy. I didn't like to accept gifts from him and this made him upset. Well, he looked more handsome when he's upset. His large eyes sparkled in the candle light. His thick brows, masculine jaws, caramel skin and long neck gave him a "Greek god" look. His teeth were finely arranged and damn! his voice was soothing.
"Lydia, thank you for being part of my life for these 14months. You..."
" You're not going to die are you!?" I exclaimed and we laughed.
He placed his warm hand on mine and looked straight into my eyes. I began to feel warm. " Lydia, will you marry me?" He said as he knelt on one knee
" What! Matt uhmm... I ...." I stammered. " Marry me will you? He asked again.
I freezed. My brain wasn't working properly. Just then, the glass window shattered, the butler and the two attendants took cover while I sat there staring at nothing. I was blind! My tears blinded me. Fire burned inside of me, I was deaf to my own scream. I fell on my knees and cupped his head in my hands. I could feel his warmth all over my hands, it mixed with the cold champagne that dripped from the table cloth.
"Marry me" he said.
