Dark Neck

UNSEEN   The weather was cold and the sky looked pale, it was wailing in nature's baritone. I adjusted my bag pack and glanced at my wrist watch. It was just 9pm and the streets were already quiet.   I walked down recalling what happened  earlier at the camp I visited. The way the dogs barked wildly behind me and what the old security man said to me when he came to calm the dogs down. "They see things we don't see." He said to me.  " Ok? things like..." I replied "Supernatural things, spirits" he said. I smiled at him in disbelief and replied " wow! That sounds interesting"  He stopped what he was doing and looked at me then he nodded his head and said " You won't know. The director is waiting for you inside"   I thanked him for calming the dogs and I went to meet the director.    I reached my apartment and unlocked my door. Two cats ran out. What!    I stood by the kitchen window in the kitchen admiring the maize I planted in a run of Milo, an assignment I was given in school. It was already 15cm tall and it danced happily in the cool even breeze. If I only I was a plant too...  Pim! pim! Father was back from work already. I rushed to the sitting room to arrange whatever was not in place. My father was like a raging bull and an all powerful god. He did as it pleased him, he had no room for weakness of any kind. I rushed and opened the gate for him and he was already fuming before I came. I rushed to the car to get his bag from the back seat. "Good afternoon sir" I greeted him.   "What were you doing that you left me outside?" He said without answering my greetings. "Sorry sir" I said as I closed the door to the car.
